In this video, we’ll show you how to open up and stretch your mid and upper traps and relieve tightness between your shoulder blades. This is a tough area to access but this stretch is a very simple way to get the job done using a short stick (4-5ft). Standing in a hip-wide stance with hands palms-up a little wider than hip-width apart on the stick, bring it to chest level and cross your arms. In this position your shoulders come forward and you achieve a nice stretch of your traps. To lock this down and intensify the stretch, create tension and increase irradiation by squeezing and pushing your hands together on the stick. Make sure to cross your arms in both directions to work both sides to avoid muscle imbalances! Next time you’re experiencing tightness between your shoulders give this drill a try and see how it feels!
